Default harpoon question

I know it has been talked about enough on flying gaff and harpoon and whcih one is better. BUt I had a question that has not really been answered. If you stick the sword with a harpoon, do you cleat it off or are poeple really using the 100 feet of rope on a bouy. If you do tie it off, doesn't the pull from the fish pull the harpoon out, or does it 99.9% stick in the fish? Still a little afraid to go poon route. Advice will help

Yes, both, yes, and don't be.

Marlin Poon that pig

A good poon shot will immobilize the fish almost instantly. Breathe deep, wait for a clean shot and stick em.

Like the gentlmen said above.

Remember, When it comes to fish, a Harpoon is made for steeling and a flyer is made for taking.

I would not assume this to be true, unless fishing 12 lbs of drag. If the fish comes in quick a poon pisses him off!!
