Default NEWBIE HERE

Hello Everyone,

I just registered but have been lurking on this site for months. I just wanted to comment on what a great and informative site this is! So MUCH and so MANY great tips! With the dolphin a little slow for me this summer, decided to try for a swordie. Read many posts and tips from everyone and decided on 8/28/04 to give it my first try. Either I'm the luckiest guy, my research paid off, or a combination, ended up with a nice 53" fish! Albeit small, I'll never forget this catch, and yes, caught the FEVER! GOTTA do it again!!!! I run a '78 26' Pacemaker, named "BEL-MAYO", with my home port being Port Everglades. I plan to run out of Miami when swordfishing. If when I'm out and if anyone gets in distress, rest assured I'll pull lines and help anyway I can. Plan to attend future seminars and hope to meet ya.

Again, absolutely a great site with great people!

Default Attention all Newbies: GENERAL WARNING

All Newbies to swordfishing please take note:

WARNING: According to the JOURNAL in GENERAL, swordfishing can be dangerous to your health. This sport may result in addiction, swordfishing fevers may set in from time to time, and the time now spent away from home and/or on-line may cause family issues as well. Swordfishermen, without deep pockets, are also cautioned that there may be some financial contra-indications linked to swordfishing.

There may exist increased risk of physical harm: You could get whacked with a bill. Not that this happens too often, but recent physical evidence indicates: there is a strong correlation between head and body proximity to swordbills, that may predispose angers to swordbill trauma and/or impalement.

Additional symptoms may include: euphoria, camaraderie, fatique, insomnia, increased alcohol consumption, nausea, physical exertion and artificial vision enhancements due to decreased night vision.

Man Overboard Syndrome has also been linked to swordfishing and any other nighttime boating activity. This is not contagious but goes with the territory. By keeping a small dosage of cyalum sticks on one's person, this greatly improves the odds for a speedy recovery once symptoms are observed.

Pregnant Women and Small children should avoid massive consumption of swordfish. Although consumption of swordfish is VERY TASTY and not addictive, there may be other long term health issues that apply.

Swordfishing also puts swordfish in MORTAL danger and is 100% FATAL for all KEEPERS.

Now that you have been informed of the risks and symptoms of swordfishing, consder yourself WARNED by the GENERAL JOURNAL, and welcome aboard mates. May the next slob be yours if you DARE.
