Default Popped 2 cherries

Fished off Palm Beach. Night started off great first bait had about a 175 at the boat after about 10-12 minutes I go to leader the fish (sorry no windon) it jumps and gets off (ouch that hurts).

Then we hook a double with 2 guys from New Jersey that have never held a fishing pole, but some how we manage to get both fish. They were close to legal but rule on boat is if you have to measure it you can't keep it. so were 2-3.

Nothing till 11:30 then we get 2 hits in a 20 minute period missing both.

Stuck it out for the guys from new Jersey at 5:35am we get a double one pup to the boat in 5 minutes, the other goes strait to the bottom. We never moved it off the bottom with 38LBS of drag for 50 minutes. Then it just came off.

But the leader was frayed up about 4 1/2 feet above the hook. Only thing we could guess was big swordy or a shark rolled up in it.

So we ended up 3 for 7.

So heres the ? Is it harder to get a hook in the pups?
Do they play with the bait more than a bigger fish, because one of the pups hit the tip rop for like 3 minutes before he got it.

Say please and I'll tell what 4 of the 7 hits were on!

Kyle

One of the fish we got last night was on a mullet as well...I was surprised at how long it stayed alive bridled.
