Default Sword Bills

I know you guys get hammered with this all the time and I even looked through all of the search topics. And I would like to get our first bill preserved.

We don't live on a canal but in Metro Orlando. I need a way to preserve this. Right now its hung on the fence out in the sun. I would be great for a beginning to end procedure.

Thanks

get some koser salt and make some salt water, soak it for a few weeks changing the water,, after a few weeks try and sling the meat out of it.
the oils will rise out and it will get nasty, and stink, then after a few weeks then dry it, then make some water with clorox and soak for 15 min and use a scub bush to get it white.

Default KoH

get some KOH, 2 oz's for every gallon of water leave it out for one week in the sun coverd with wire mesh to prevetn killing anything that drinks or falls into it and don't spill it onyourself. when your done with the mixture dilute with lots of fresh water. no cleaning or waiting months for them to be done it only takes a week. add water to mixture when it evaporates.only to keep the bills coverd and so the solution dosnet get to saturated.

Default sword bills

i dont know if it is the correct way but i like to get things done fast. what I do with my bills is boil them for about 2-3 hours in a turkey frier. Then you can pit them in any solution you want. After you boil the sword it now has no meat and gets most of the oil out of the bill. Also i dont like to stink up my house and you can have a finished bill in less than 5 or so days.

I put my bills in an ant hill and they eat all the meat out of it, then I paint a little clear coat on it to give it that natural shine, the ants do there job in an orderly fashion

I just watched some nature show where this guy cleaned cow skulls for a living and did it with this certain Beetle that ate everything out within 48 hours. Then he soaked it in some peroxide bath. It came out amazing.

yeah but those beetles are very dangerious and are not a native species so that could cause some problems. Plus a swordbill is not as hard as a cow skull the beetle would eat it.

Once you're done boiling it, PM me and I'll send you some pics. of what I do to my bills. I can also customize it for you with personalized artwork if that is something that interests you.
