Hi guys,
I am new to this forum and new to swordfishing. I currently captain a 36 Hatteras in the Bahamas and would like to try swordfishing. I have a few questions. 1. Our Shelf falls from 100-500 down to 2000, and then rises again about 1/4 mile out to around 1100 before falling to more than 2000. Is this a good area to concentrate fishing? Along the inital shelf, the canyon between the intial shelf and the Secondary rise, or on the 1100ft rise? 2. Where is the best place to get bait (squid) in Fort Lauderdale area, im coming over tommorow to get supplies. 3. Hydraglow or Spreader Lights. Thanks Adam |

I run a boat in the Berry islands. We have fished a half dozen times in different areas and always the same- sharks will eat your baits until you have none left.

I'm sure the swords are there, but the sharks are a MAJOR issue on the other side

ok well just got back from Ft. lauderdale, seems like there are swords caught in abaco, bimin, exuma sound, so im gonna give it a good shot here. Unfortunatly the berry islands are overrun with sharks, when fishing for muttons, you only get one mutton for 5 hooked. We dont have a huge shark issue here, or at least when looking for them they arent there.
