The Captain I worked for in the summer used the 80Ws in the bahamas. I dont know if he bought them or the owner but he did say that every time he tests the drag on them all 6 read the exact same every single time. Thats all i know about em tho- we never pulled out the big guns while I was there.

I believe Birddog fishes with them and love em. Plus if you go to JMTackle.com they have them. And JM has nothing but quality products for the most part.

Johnny, Zack has fished them before... I've fished them once.... very nice reel. For the money, they better be quality!! Try talking to Xfish on the FS forum... he's fished them quite a bit too.

You get what you pay for! I have their 50w 2speed (1000yds spectra, 100 yds berkley cajun red - 150 lb- top shot). We use it on the middle outrigger to troll (wahoo, tuna) approximately 300 yds out.

I also have their rod & it is also deluxe!

I've got a 20, 30, and a 50. For the 50 all that I have to compare against is my TLD 50 and Tiagra 50. I would say that I am having a hard time getting familiar with quickly handling the drag compared to my Tiagra, but that the drag on the Alu seems a bit smoother. In truth, I really didn't need to go with the Alu's as I am only a weekend warrior, but I guess that the dream of having my TLD crushed by a monster lead to the purchase.

If you do get a set, I strongly recommend dropping them one by one in the parking lot right away to avoid feeling bad about it later. I would also wash it with squid juice to get the new stink off as I blanked 4 trips in a row after dropping the coin on the reels. That's all that I can give you.

I have the 20 Albacore and it is a sick reel. I use it as a kite reel and to light troll with. So derrrty. I'm waiting to look at the Florida Sportsman show to see if any of the dealers has the 50w two-speed for sale. If not I will be buying one anyway because I'm in love! Bass Pro has them so you can look at them for yourself. Pretty much the 50 is a 80, 80 is a 130, and the 130 is a 150.

i have a 30 w two speed and we have caught alot of fish on it 2 marlin , 350, and 650, 80lb sword , and many other big game fish.the only thing is im not wild about the handle , plastic for 500dollars  , but its a great reel it has some crazy drag for a 30w ill tell u that we had at least 50 lbs on our big marlin in panama probabily more i havent checked but its alot. we had full drag on him with 100lbs power pro and the line finally gave so i know we had some heat on him.

A friend of mine has a 50 which we have caught 3 marlins in 3 days with and not once did it miss a beat. There is only one thing about them, The drag lever is VERY easy to hit into free spool, it doesn't have the slots like the tiagra to keep it in place. But other then that, they are quality reels.

Really? I thought the opposite on my 20 and I think the 50 I looked at has the same type of lever drag where at just before freespool carved a little thing in the drag to make it stop. Then you have to push the button on the lever to go into free-spool or past strike. Sorry for the crappy picture, but my good digital camera broke.

I Should have stated this better. Not to knock it into free speel, but to bump it, and the drag becomes very light and almost in free spool, same friend lost a blue because of this.

fished for swordfish with them once...they are awesome. Much lighter and smoother than tiagras. I highly recommend them
