If anybody has any used Tiagra 80's or 130's they are looking to part with I am in the market, please shoot me an IM. Paying cash. Sorry if this type of post isnt allowed on here. Preferrably not reels from Carolina or NE, in other words I would prefer reels that havent been used for Bluefins......Thanks,
Johnny

:roflmao: Or for even less when you get it used.
Johnny, that is too funny. I suppose you would rather have a 130 class reel that was USED for Kingfish, or for swordfish. Yeah, I get your point. But do reels really wear out that bad if they have been fighting a big Blue FT. Drags can be serviced. Do you seriously degrade a reel when the hook is attached to a Volkswagen sized fish full of brute strength? I would think of it as the reel being well seasoned. Oops, there goes another one, and Another Grand, to kick it up a notch. I heard of someone selling a 130 class reel. I forgot the manufacturer name but it is the one where you crank one way and it is high gear and you crank in reverse and it is low gear. I think it was about $500. Say the word and I will make the connection so you two can talk. |

That would be a Duel 12/0. there is also a 12/0W which holds about 100 yards more line i believe. Some people say they love the whole backwards reeling thing, but I think that would work best in a fighting chair, when you can stand up on the footrest and really pull back. I dont think this would work in a harness. Of course, whose gonna use a 130 in a harness
Still, even in the gunnel i dont think it would be practical. |

I foght one on a 130 stand-up, never again. Always leave the 130's in the holder or in a chair. I couldn't get a Penn 130 to fit in my 50 and 80 class Aftco butts/seats. I've never seen a short butt for a 130 class rod. Anyway, I could never make it comfortable enough to make it a good standup rig. Maybe there is some custom option out there. anyone...anyone.... :?:

The reel would not go into low with preasure on it, twice. One time it went completely into freespool. Luckily we had a glove on the spool and it didn't cost the fish. Stay away, the owner of the boat is a tackle dist., he gave them back. |
