Default Post your catch

A few guys have told me that the scale I posted seems light. I must admit that it was developed for H&G fish. I added 20% for the head, guts, fins, etc. in an attempt to come close. A sword plug is estimated to loose 18% when loined, so I figured 20% may be close to get from whole weight to the plug stage. If you guys want to post the length and weight of fish you have caught in the past we can probably get it a bit more accurate.

Hey BP,

I think your scale is allmost right on for certain times of the year but the one in my avtar was 110 on a scale and was only 57 inches from lower jaw to fork. It was a fatty and had nothing in the belly. One of the best eating ones that was not a pumkin. that fish was caught in May.

I thought your scale was right on the money, a few of our fish have weighed lighter than we thought, but are extremely close to the scale. Thanks again for the scale, it's proven correct.

most of our body weights do not match our heights on a medical chart, so we must assume that swords are similiar. a dressed fish is probably more consistant to determine. problem with a chart is that it's a lot harder to fudge a measurement than a unweighed fish. as you know most fisherman have BIG

I'll start to keep a bathroom scale and a 2x8 in my car.

FYI... We weighed a normally proportioned 57" at the Summer Hydroglow event that was 90lbs on the scale. Our LxGxG/800 calculation put it at 88lbs.
