I think I'll be takin the NautiCat out with crew out tonite.

In case anyone wants to know I picked up a bunch of flats at Floribbean yesterday. The price was down form the last ones I got these were $22. and had 36 squid per flat. They were some of the best looking squid I have ever seen and slightly larger than usual. Out of the two that I thawed out not a single squid was damaged in any way.

Those must be 1/2 flats? My usual yield is 75-80 @ $40-n-change from Floribbean. Different supplier maybe.

Anyways... the seas are looking good for tonight, so I'll probably make my way out there again. Got a 49" last night on the flatline, with 3 slashed baits, and released a 7ft Dusky. We fished way outside, just above Port Everglades.

Had to run wide to avoid a beeper set on the 52 while heading back to Boca. That set was drifting lit-up. :thumright: It's a good thing, since there was no moonlight.

UB Yes you were right that they may be 1/2 flats. I ususally get the $40 version but thats all they had at the time. These were also from a different supplier. The good thing is that the quality was just kick ass. I mean these squid looked damn near alive when I thawed them.

Chips, the number is 954-968-4091.

Just2fish, a beeper set is bouy gear and it wasn't mine last night.

It consists of three bouys, a bullet followed by a rigid ball, followed by another bullet that functions as the high flyer, to which a strobe is then attatched. The drop line is anywhere from 100 to 300 feet long with a 1 pound lead at the bottom. Two one 100 ft 500 lb test leaders are attatched to the drop, one at the bottom and one at the top. It looks like a giant chicken rig. The first bullet bouy is known as a bite bouy and suspends the whole rig. The drop line runs through the center of the bite bouy and suspends the rig from a LL clip and a #64 rubberband. When a fish hits it breaks the band and the bite bouy slides 6 feet up the line till its tight against the rigid ball. When you run the gear you hit it with a Q-beam and if the balls are touching the fun begins. Depending on conditions you can manage 6 to 10 of these rigs with 8 being an average.

Jr.

Go to West Marine and buy one (a handheld GPS). If that happened to you offshore you would have been bummed. A spare everything is always good to have.

Its in Margate the address is 5151 NW 17 St Margate, FL 33063

Its on Banks Road (which is west of the turnpike) just north of Cypress Creek on the east side of the road. Greyish building with pink awnings. Check with them for sure before you go because I just go there on mental autopilot.

Thanks a lot Capt. Ollie.
I left them a voicemail so I'll find out. Seems like they are only open 5 days a week so I'll head over on Monday after I call them.

Yes, Mon-Fri... and they do NOT take credit cards. Cash prefered, but they'll take a check too.

I come from the north, so I get there by Copans. Just a bit west of Lyons. There's a gas station on the SE corner. Head south. I think it's the 2nd or 3rd side street on the left, at the end of the cul-de-sac. If the wind is from the east, you can smell 'em before you see 'em!

Ollie... In my understanding, buoy gear is not inter-connected. Correct?
