Default heading out 8-3

leaving haulover around 6:30, going to try a new color squid. i think i have matched the color they are when you buy them. puch brown is the color you get when you mix red with some green dye. very close to the color they are naturally. i'll report back in the morning. Ray

well we went 1/2. got slashed around 9 on the deep rod. changed the bait and back in to the spread. around 9:30 i see the balloon heading north and no noise from the clicker. i sit next to the rod and feel the line for movement, off in the distance i can see the LP glowing on the surface. i start winding and slowly get tight. after almost an hour its in the boat. Final measurement was 71 almost 72. forgot to measure the girth. I'll measure the plug in the morning. Ray

Great job Ray happy to hear you get one

Last night was a great night to be out.The weather was great.A little warm but just a great night.I think a bunch of fish were caught last night from way down South up to the North.I just love those water ski home kind of nights.

It is never to calm to scare me. We had a great crew last night and had a fun time.

As Barry said we ended up with a 50in fish. But I will say this it hit like a slob and ran off 200yd of line in 2min with over 20lbs of drag and was towing boat backwards  to the south against the current. With that run and in that direction I really thought it was a big fish.It came up quick with some sword jumps and was at boat side.

We were out last night and heard a lot of the guys from this forum on the radio (quack, albar).
We had two double headers last night. We started our drift down south on the 25'50, right on the 50 line. The first double hit at 9:00, both ate squid, one on the 150' jug and the other on the 200' tip rod. Strikes were within 60 seconds of each other. Had the first one close to the boat within about 20 minutes, he saw the light and sounded and pulled the hook. The other one took 45 minutes to get close. He came up with another one following him. We started to leader him and he sounded again peeled 400 feet of line, went under the boat to the other side, jumped twice and broke the line. ops:
After we regrouped and started setting out our spread again, the 200' jug gets slammed before we even get it out all the way. This was around 10:00. As we are clearing the other lines, I feel a thump on the tip rod. I stop reeling, let the bait drop again, and boom, we're on. Both pulled the hooks within 10 minutes.
We gave it another two hours, but no more action. Final tally - a dissapointing 0 for 4, but we'll be out again tonight seeking to even the score.

I hate when that happens  Any reason for the pulled hooks other than bad luck?

I wish I could go again tonight but I do not like the couch

Went out last nite to the 50 line off Hillsboro. Caught a shark 7', moved out to 48, short wait, fish on for 30 mins, pulled the hook . Good fish, was going away most of the time. Beautiful flat conditions

the pic is a little deceving. the wires are closer to me taking the pic than they are to the boat. thanks, i only wish the ride was less (pound the crap out of you) harsh. it's the 14deg dead rise. floats nice and lots of space... oh yeah 3mpg crusing.
