I will be out wedneday, thursday and friday!!!! Finally some calm seas in the forecast... I second the lvie bait.. as I will only be fishing one squid on a tip rod. The rest will be runners of good size. I may need an extra hand on deck, so any interested anglers please PM me. Thanks

We are also heading out tonight and a couple more times towards the end of the week. I will be on the 50 off Hillboro most of the night. We bought a few rigged squid, but sounds like the live bait is where its at now. I can't wait

1st time posting on this forum. I was out last night with Launch'em and
Wino on the Drunken Lizard. We caught a 89 lbr on the 51 line. The sword hit a blue runner right in th light of the hydroglow when Wino was checking the deep bait. The sword had 30 squid in its belly.Perfect night last nite; just enough wind to keep the boat drifting straight. cheers, arthur |

Had a nice trip on Tuesday night, very early bites. As soon as the sun was going down, the moon was up and getting ready to set, we missed the early bite and found an 80 lb sword about 130 am. He ate a dead Bonita on the tip rod. We saw a Mako go airborn just as we were passing a boat that had their lines out, he was on one of their lines and had cut himself off according to the boater. That was right at sunset. It is nice to be a part of it all. Nice night overall out front of FT. Lauderdale.

Hey guys,
We ventured out there last night in the new boat. Beautiful night out on the water and I would say it was 2-4 at the most. We setup our first drift on the 49.60 and checked our baits in an hour and saw that all the runners were slashed and the squids were perfect. We switched over to all live baits and reset the drift up back on the 49.00. Within 2 minutes we had a fish hit the 80 and almost spool us, but we buttoned down the drag on him and fought him for 3 hours straight eventually pulling the hooks. We did get to see the fish a few times and I would estimate the fish was over 250lbs... We called it a night and were at the dock by midnight. Its nice that it gets dark early now. There were numerous boats out that landed some 200lb plus fish and there were also alot of releases. The fishing is on fire now.. lets hope the weather breaks again soon so we can all get out there. Re: sword full of 30+ squid
The fish went after a runner even with his bully so full. I used some of that squid and caught a sword the next night on it. I usually fish one large squid deep, a blue runner/tinker/... mid-depth, then a few small squid on a hook at 75', and live bait on the surface. I've had good luck catching swords with live ballyhoo on the surface. cheers, arthur |

What size hooks are you using to keep a ballyhoo on the surface, 10/0 got to be to heavy, anything to small might straighten with the drag pressure.
