We waited at the docks until everything blew out to sea which around 6:30 pm. We caught a dozen runners and headed out in 2-4 then when we hit the stream it smoothed out real nice.
We were in a hot zone on our first drift, first bait in the water a runner gets nailed. We get tight and pull the hook 2 minutes later. I got three lines set when #2 balloon is swimming hard south. As soon as I started getting tight I see the electralume on the surface running north. I got my client harness up and he had the rod doubled over for less than 10 minutes without gaining much at all. I thought we came unglued but when I grabbed the leader the hook was chewed off.
Then the winds picked up making me nervous as they were 20-25 knots from the NW, the worst wind direction I've experienced. But she let up after about an hour and everything laid down but we never got another bite. From my last 3 trips it sounds like there are plenty of Sharks out there, so be prepared if your going to take that MAKO.

At first I was depressed that I had to go to a wedding at 4:30 yesterday.... That is until I saw that weather building and heading out to sea. Then I thought of everyone that had told me they were heading out and I thought "sucks to be them if they went." When I got home at 10 and looked at the radar I was really happy that I had other things to do and didn't think anyone had actually gone out in that crap......Turns out I was wrong but its nice to know you all came back. Summer weather just plain SUCKS!
