quack, do you bend the shank, on the curve or just behind the barb in front of the curve...

Put the point in a vice down to the curve and bend it.A small 2ft pipe makes life very easy.Just slip shank into the pipe to make the bend.No matter what hook you use make sure it is very, very, sharp. That is more critical than the offset :!: I have got many fish only because the hook was razor sharp. We got one last month foul hooked in the leading edge of the dorsal fin.The point stuck in to the bone of the dorsal about half way to the barb. When the fish hit the deck the hook fell out.We had a good angler on the rod right Randi Without that ultra sharp hook that fish would have been just a bite. The best deal on hooks are the 9/0 Lps like Ollie said. Most of my hooks are those now and come offset to start with and are cheap.I think a box of 100 is like $50 I am not sure.

ok quack, i'm a little confused... when you say off-set do you mean bending the barb towards the shank or sideways to the shank... moving the barb off the (plane) if you will..
