Default Daytime swordfishing pictures

Went out sunday out of Bud N' Mary's Marina... here's some pictures. We've been going regularly at least once a week now for sometime. Both these fish were caught in the day time, roughly 1600 feet.

Great job! :salut: Those guys must have some pretty big reels to be fishing at those depths. And the fact that they were caught during the daytime must make it even better. Where those caught at Floyd's? The guys in Miami and ft. lauderdale have great sword grounds, but we have the wall!

I don't think he meant his baits were down 1600-1700 feet. That's the depth they were fishing.

not floyds, we have fished that at night and it's pretty productive. this is a secret honey hole No our baits were around 1600-1700 feet down, we had probably close to 2000 feet of line out though because the current was ripping. We were dropping wqith 10 lbs of lead.

That's awesome, great job. Did you run any shallower baits (400-600') or did all your daytime bites come from that deep?

All the baits were that deep. There are a lot of fish at that depth because we hooked up probably within 5-7 minutes on every drop. It's a long process rigging, baiting, dropping, moving, etc... so we probably averaged a drop an hour or so.

How many lines did you put out per drop?Did you break away the lead when you hit the bottom?

QQ,
In Venezuela, instead of lead a bag of rocks is used with 20# mono. When the bait is on the bottom a hard jerk will pop the 20# mono and the bait does a slow drift upwards.

Do you use a secondary weight, say a 32 or 24 to keep the bait in range longer so it doesnt float up ast fast?

must be using much more than an extra 32 oz to get baits that deep.. I'm thinking 10 pounds would do it... even then theline may still be on an angle.
