I have been up in tallahasse attending school since august and haven't been down to fish in about a month. I am coming home this weekend and plan on making a few trips. i was wondering how the bite was doing if anyone has been going, and if anyone is going to give it a shot this weekend.[/b]

Swordy08, Are you in school up at FSU? You're name isn't jason is it?
Anyways, The bite has been great! Most anglers are catching a fish a night when the weather permits. Hopefully we will get some calmer weather when you come down. But most of the bites have been on live bait, although I suggest putting atleast 1 squid out there. There is a front hitting us tomorrow that is dropping us to the 60's. So we are looking for the swords to find our warmer water out there.. along with the great reef fishing for the winter grind. Catch em up! |

Ya the swordfishing is looking great, and the strong winds have kept most boats away from the fish, so the boats that get out there are getting them and you can see that in the 350lb fish on the home page...
Sailfishing is also out of hand right now and will be fantastic for the 3 day tournament this weekend. |

Hey guys, my neighbor was out on saturday night in the rough stuff and and went 1 for 4 not inclduing cut baits.
He landed a 55incher and lost the others all on live bait. He said a guy reported a 66 inch fish the same time he landed his. Lets get out there..! |

a buddy of mine was drifting in the day and hooked up with 2 swordies off of miami. i didnt believe him but he got it on video, a sight to see, but anyways i am thinkin about goin out real early on day and droppin 'em to like 600ft and see if i cant get one in the day. it may sound stupid but better than sitting at home, if anything i will fish pilchies while im out there and get some dolphin until real swordy time. what do ya boys think

I don't think it will hurt. If you look in the gallery, someone got a swordie jumping in broad daylight in 160ft. I have been out to the swordgrounds and found them on the surface basking in the sun.. I'm not sure if they feed during the day or what.. but its worth a shot. Sounds better than killing a bunch of 3lb schoolies

Gotta say, this is a great site. I am really impressed. Anyway, I am relatively new to the sport, but hooked none the less. I have fished off Hillsboro Inlet a little but this week I think we are going to give it a shot off Stuart depending on the conditions. Does anybody have any advice on fishing this area? Thanks in advance and keep those lines tight.

HEY SWIG..will you be swordfishing or sailfishing???There are a couple guys up in stauart that frequently swordfish that come on this site. I have also fished in stuart. I am not sure exactly where the line is to start you drift up there... but find that out and then setup your drift just as explained in the rigging section of this site. The bite is great in the winter time, mostly because most people are sailfishing right now.. We'll get em!!!
Keep us updated. |

Hey Tim, we mostly fish for the typical mahi, cobia, sailfish, etc. and just recently have started to experiment with swordfishing. So this week, we will hopefully be doing a little of both. We're keepin the fingers crossed that we hook into a big guy.
