Default Broward County -vs- Dade County

I have gone twice to catch swords on my boat...hooked a couple...dont know what they were but whatever.... I think i am ready to charter a boat to see what the hell I am doing wrong.... I have read almost every post and have gotten a lot of info from you guys... but there is something i am not doing right....So I want to get a charter captain for a night of swordfishing...What area is best in all of your opinions....Dade county or Broward County?????????

doesnt matter just get a good captain cuase they will run to the fish...

Capt. Cary Hanna-- New Lattitude

Capt. Bouncer Smith-- Bouncer's Dusky

Capt. Dean Panos- Double D

I HIGHLY recommend you go with one of these guys. Its worth the extra $, these guys know what they are doing and you wont be wasting your money.

Otherwise, there are pople on the forum who do like hire-a-mates where you go on your boat and will bring gear and all and will basically teach you and do all the work

im sure some others will chime in

All good choices! Capt. Kunta Smith on the Lady Pamela also gets his share of Swords. If you're looking for a "hire-a-mate" to go on your boat, I would talk to Stuart (i belive he's Nightfighter on this forum and Broadbill on Florida Sportsman). Good luck and Catch 'em up
P.S. I would probably go with Stuart on your boat because I think you'd learn a lot from him! Just my .02

Bringing someone on your boat to show is a great way to learn how to fish your boat... And NightFighter is the guy for that!!!!

The other guides mentioned are the best of the best! They will also put you on the fish and you will still learn a lot!

Just wanted to let you right coast people now what a GREAT forum you have here. I am planning a trip in May to catch my first Swordie and have learned so much from the chats you guys have back and forth. Great networking. Your choice of charter Captains is very consistant with the info I have recieved from a fellow member of the Balboa Angling Club in Newport Beach, Ca. which I belong to. Thanks for all the info. Wished are Broadbill fishery was as good as yours. When we do catch them out west they are typically HUGE. One thing for certain is we do everything out west standup style.

Thanks for the props guys. :salut:
But Miami is just to to far for me. It's a long drive back to Delray Beach after a good night swording.
I have to stick to the West Palm to Ft Laud. Inlets of departure, so my drive back home at the end of the night isn't so hideous, but we will fish as far south as Miami for the drift back north during the night.

Ray Rosher on the Miss Britt was also a name I was given but I have been unable to find his website or phone #. Anyone know how to get ahold of him? I plan on fishing 3-4 days and wouldn't mind trying out a few of the best.

Default Miss Britt - Ray Rosher info.

Scallywag:

It sounds like you've got the fishing bug. Here is some info. you can use.

Ray Rosher 305-804-3474 Miss Britt @ Monty's Coconut Grove

or you could try Ray Rosher - R & R Tackle 305-596-0419 Ch. 71, 16 if the first number doesn't get you right through.

If your talking about the south grounds for swordfishing, don't forget Capt. Joe McGivern.

Hey, if you're going to be out fishing multiple days, save some fish for us. You may just tear them up with those hired guns, I mean sword slayers.

I am also new to the forum and new to swording. I follow a lot of fishing reports in South FL. All those name mentioned have great websites, and great reputaion, as suggested it would be a great idea to hire them if you can and don't mind putting out the $$$. But, As a second choiche, I would bet some of the experience members of the forum wouldn't mind taking a ride fishing with you.
I've seen postings such as "i need a ride out, willing to share expenses and have own equipment type of messages" etc..

Hector, this doesn't mean that you'll get the quality or experience of a guide.... its a chance, an experiment, but again i have not met a fisherman whose is a bad person yet, maybe bad fisherman, but good people. I plan of doing the same in the near future (maybe next week), waiting for better weather. let me know how it works out. I my opinion you can always learn something from someone else.

Default Can'y wait!!!!

Thanks to you all for providing me with this info. Can't wait for May to roll around. I would also like to reciprocate to anyone who wants to trade coasts for fishing trips.
I also charter a Mothership trip every June to the Midriff Islands in Baja with a bunch of friends and customers of mine. Its 6 days of asskicken Yellowtail and Grouper fishing. hb

I would love nothing more than to bring a BIG cooler of swordfish for dinner one night with all of the placemats having my picture of a couple of swords at my side
I'll post my dates booked and Captains chartered when its all arranged.
