Default Who's the best angler for big swordfish?

Anybody care to step up to the challenge of catching the biggest swordfish, Wednesday or Thursday night. (It's an SESC Club Outing.)

We already have the self nominated weigh Meister: if you've ever seen anyone roaming the Lighthouse Point Marina dock late at night looking for some fresh fish (or a good time), you might have the right clue, rhyms with blue... it could be .... (Oh god, fins to the left...)

If this peaks your curiosity, call Bobbie (RJ Boyle) @ Shop 954-420-5001 for the skinny.

A fun time to be had by all fishing the sword grounds by week night, let's say Wed. - Thur. , and back by midnight plus a media-noche. (1/2 hour)

Too much fun for this Tuesday night, let's set our sights for tomorrow and the next.

P.S. - Big (shortfin) Makos are just a perk.

Q-Quack:

Bragging rights walk ... Call Bobbie if you need to know more. Details, as I understand them, are sketchy since it all came together on short notice. Yeah, there is a prize for those that pitch in, $150. Heaviest swordfish wins it. (edit - One fish takes all.)
Lines in start tonight. Must be within sight of LHP marina by 12:30 a.m for weigh-in.

Default Is this thing opened to all? Not sure.

QQ:

Is it open to all? That was the first question I had which I do not know the answer to.

Ask Bobbie if you are interested. Are you feeling ducky, I mean lucky?

I'm heading over to the shop tonight to place my order for Thursday night.

Default SESC - Swordfish outing update

Venice Tunaman:

I suspect you are not fishing this one due to your situation.

Just got a basic update this morning. Heaviest fish to beat since Wednesday night is: 135.x #.

As of this morning 9 boats are fishing. Sign up today if you still want to fish Thursday night.

Quack Quack - I asked if this was open for all. I believe so. I just saw the e-mail sent to the club members Tuesday night, which called for signing up by Wednesday; although, I believe that if you still want to fish tonight you can still get in on this if you want to.

The bar is already set but if you believe you can catch the heaviest fish by all means, step up to the plate.

Good luck to all those fishing tonight to catch a nice fish but less than 136.

Default Thursday Night Drifts

Quack Quack:

Good Luck. Are you doing a Northern Drift? Maybe some big ones lurking around, off of the beaten trail (Pike)

Remember: Hillsboro Inlet (LHP Marina) is the place to be by 12:30 a.m. if you need to weigh your fish.

Oh, by the way... they were catching some nice BIG fish over by N-aa:bb:ccc, W-xx:yy.zzz on Tuesday night's drift.

Just teasing, but you were looking for those starting numbers, weren't you?

Quack:

That is a great technique to remember your favorite spot. I'll have to remember that trick. No more triangulation or remembering waypoints or numbers.

No matter where you go, there you are. I like it. And you never deplete your favorite honey hole.

ST:

I think that this was more of an impulsively motivated outing than a tournament. With good weather why not? It motivated me to get out fishing on a busy weeknight, which I am greatful, because my days have been booked solid all during February. I never did follow up the next day to see if there was a bigger fish caught on Thursday night. But it seemed to be pretty slow on Thursday night. More details will probably be covered at the next scheduled meeting.

Thursday Report: We went 1 for 2 and heard another fish jumping somewhere in the darkness on the up-drift side of the boat. The VHF seemed pretty quiet most of the evening, with the exception of some boat being hooked up for a few hours with no follow-up ever noticed.

We had a consistent supply of Tinkers around the boat for most of the evening, starting at sundown. We stocked up with about 4 dozen, to have some for the upcoming Tinkerless nights ahead.

We had a diversified spread of tinkers and squid. Still, we had no action until close to moonset around 9:30. In short order the wind shifted from SE to SW and we had another strike but the line went slack after a couple minutes. We called it a night around 11:15 p.m.

Overall, it seems like the bite has been generally depressed. But even in March it seemed like a typical calm summer evening (without the heat index and no lightning )
