Howdy,
I have been interested in Swordfishing Central for quite some time now, have been reading yall's posts, but this is my first post. We catch swords here off of texas, but the run is much longer than you guys off the East coast of Florida are used to traveling. I have an online subscription site that I believe would help in the pursuit of swordfish; www.realtime-navigator.com where you get unlimited access to the dynamic imagery offshore; sea temps, water color, altimetry, etc. starting at $180/year. We have 10 regions from Texas to Maine, and the images shown below are from the Keys Region. Enclosed is a sst image from this morning - we have 4 sst shots available today already - normally you will get between 4 to 6 images/day. The image is shown in 3 different modes; http://www.realtime-navigator.com/lauderdale_sst1.jpg This shows the temperatures based on our default setting of 67 to 82 degrees...the Gulf Stream is shown as a big orange glob. http://www.realtime-navigator.com/lauderdale_sst2.jpg This is the same image, but it is zoomed and tweaked based on the Gulf Stream min/max temps (76 to 80 degrees). YOU have the power to tweak the imagery based on your specs. You will see that the subtle tempbreaks present in the Gulf Stream have been optimized. http://www.realtime-navigator.com/lauderdale_sst3.jpg This is the exact same image as sst2 above, but I have positioned the Nav Tool (white oval with 4 white boxes) on the tempbreak, giving the lat/long position, distance, and bearing from Ft. Lauderdale (shown with Bullseye on icon). I believe it would be beneficial to know the position of these tempbreaks in the Stream, as pelagics such as swordfish often follow these breaks in search of food. Also when the position of these breaks wander over the position of known humps, you now have 2 favorable factors combined. http://www.realtime-navigator.com/lauderdale_sst4.jpg This again is the same image, but I have scrolled down south - this shows the colors/temps on the temp range scale on the right which shows the break off Lauderdale to be about 1.5 degrees. This image also shows a very interesting warm water finger between the Islamorada Hump and the Marathon Hump - this info would affect my decision-making if I were fishing in that area. We also provide you the ability to animate the sea temp, altimetry, and water color imagery. Go to; http://www.realtime-navigator.com/me....php?r=NW_demo and click on Sea Temps, then click on "Loop Image". This shows 7 consecutive sea temp images in a 36 hour time span off of the Texas Coast. You can interpolate the position of the breaks based on the speed/direction traveled. It is uncommon to get 7 consecutive clear images such as these, and is why we give you the ability to go into the archives and cherry-pick which 7 images you want to animate based on clarity, say, 1 image per day for 7 days. Sorry for the long post. All the best, Tom Hilton

TPope,
Thanks for the welcome. I also have a booth in the Big Game Room at the Miami Boat Show in February demonstrating how to best-utilize Realtime-Navigator. This will include demonstrating how to import our imagery (such as the tweaked sst image) into a laptop navigation program as your chart, plug in a GPS receiver into the USB port, and voila! you are navigating relative to a 2 hour old customized image. Hope to see you there! Tom
