where in NC? I know a good guy who runs a 32 Albermarle out of Ocean Isles (southern NC). He has done a couple sword trips with success.

Capt Brant McMullen, Ocean Isles Fishing Center, 910-279-4606. He's experienced and successful, they do a good job on the bluefins out of Morehead also. Tell him Mark on Ambitious referred you.

Default fish the big rock

Alot of tinkers up there alot bigger fish also. Its a little longer run and the weather is pretty tough not even close to as many boats. The rock holds fish all over it get a local map. I have fished south of the big rock and east of the rock for tuna and other offshore bills lots of huge dollies huge huge schools of boston mackrel, aka tinkers ,lots of tuna but to find them u need to know the area or be tuned into the local freq that the guys use. Its not reg vhf. people are pretty cool to. Take the time to get to know them. I was docked in the Morehead City Yacht Basin. Days with 20-30 dolphin 20lb-70lb are common on any floating debre, lots of rips that last for awhlie keeping debree in consistant areas located around the rock depending on current. troll behind frieghters for wahoo catch them until u cat reel any more. baits ballywhoo with seawitches custom carolina rigging and macks with plugs or what ever ur fancy is for bills .Sorry not to up to date on swording up there but they get great billfish up there colder water and more bait make the rock a good choice to try or inquire about.
