Default NE Winds

I have been speaking with a commercial fisherman who primarily hook fishes for Swords...he laughed at me when I told him I fished two weekends ago for Swords because the weekend blew NE. He says the fish change up feeding habits and normal hang outs during the NE winds. I don't know if he really knows or if it is just the fact that it is harder to stand up in the boat?!

Any one else experience this over time?

We have hooked up with plenty of fish with NE winds. In fact I went 2 for 3 a few weeks back and it was a ripping NE wind. Everyone has a different opinion about swordfishing. Right now it is just a matter of getting out there and getting some baits deep.

The stream has had a slow current the past few weeks and there has been bait just about everywhere. Hopefully that trend will end with this cold front coming. I will be looking for the catches to increase after the weekend.

Lets get em!

Are you using 32 oz, 48 oz + 60 oz weights to get your deep baits down and keep them down? I noticed that alot of guys use 16 - 24 oz and that just does not seem to be enough especially when the currect is ripping along at 5mph.

Definetly use 32 ounce weights. What a difference it makes. As long as you are riggin them to break away it doesnt matter. You want your baits to be right on the numbers to get those fish.. not drifting up with the wind and current.
