Default Different ways to rig blue runners?

Tips on rigging blue runners?I was told to bridal the runners to the hooks but have done it two ways. The first using a rigging wire was not very effective! The second was using a rigging needle. It looked great when i watched someone do it. I tried to do it again with very poor looking rig. Will the Swords eat dead runners?

Ya some of the guys here only use dead bait. Ensures a better hook set. I find the with the big runners, they are too fast for the swords to eat on occasions and you end up foul hooking nice fish, which result in pulled hooks. I have caught some nice ones hooked in the corner of the mouth though.

I'll see if I can find a picture on how to bridle a bait.. It is easier demonstrated than said...

By the way if you are going to use dead bait, don't rule out gogs, speedos, king fish, spanish macks, tinkers, etc. The skinner baits like speedos are easier to swallow.

Like Lite Tackle Red Neck said, on some nights they will eat just about everything.

For squids, i like a 10/0 7731 mustad. Just put in the jaws of a set of pliers, and grab the shaft ad off-set it slightly.

I just picked up a couple of small mackeral. Where do u recommend I put the wieght?I usually clip it to my wind-on leader about 7-10 feet from the bait when using dead squid. Is it better near the bait?
