About 10:00 the tip rod goes off. Get tight then he charges the boat. stick him with the harpoon two minutes into the fight. Put him in the boat and he was only gill wrapped. Get out the tape measure three times and he's 56 1/4 in. Call him in. Hes really fat.
Get to the weigh station and they put the tape on him 55 1/2 in.???? . Weigh him anyway and 90Lbs. I said he was fat. Measure again and he is wavering between 56 and 55 1/2. The call is made that he does not count. Anyway the second BIGGEST fish of the tournament didn't qualify. Guess we should have done the big fish division. Congrats to Rumblefish. (pics are in the gallery, His stomach had about 10 8 inch squid and a tinker. We caught him on an 8 inch squid.) |

Let me be a little more clear. This isn't a protest or any kind of a dispute. The Bullfighter team enjoyed participating in the tournament and looks forward to round II. Again, the rules are clear and we're sure there are many other "hard luck" stories from last night. Thanks to Drew and his wife.

Slasher, not a pumpkin but a lot of meat. I highly reccomend a harpoon, it has saved us on a couple fish at least.
I have not been able to sleep since the tourney, Ive had one question in my mind, the correct way to measure the length. After some internet research I discoverd that the straight line measurement is official, without following the contour of the fish's lateral line. With this measurement method our fish was 55 1/2 inches at the weigh-in. Ill be able to sleep knowing that the correct call was made on our fish, it did not qualify. We'll get'em in September.
