Default Friendly Tourney ideas

Well Mike and I have been thinking about putting together a "friendly" forum tourney. We are looking for ideas on how it should be run,and what it should consist of.Some ideas are as follows:

Everyone who wants to join put's up between 25-50$

The tourney will be like 2 months long

Have 2 divisions the biggest fish and the most fish

pictures would be taken with a ruler in photo and a date<local newspaper in photo

Anyone else have any ideas? Please give us some help.

How many people would be interested

Put in line classes, 30,50, and 80. Get some sporting into it.

I think it may be too hard to prove what line the fish was caught on. ??

a sad unfortuanality of the "sport" is that honesty was last along time ago, especially in tournaments.

Sounds like a great idea chum, but the minute you put $$ in the equation then you have to set up a corperation unless Mike uses Swordfishing Central as the organizer and is willing to do all the bookkeeping/accounting and reporting to the IRS. If you want to do it for some type of trophy (drunk'n Dolphin) like the Non Club in Palm Beach has tournies for that's a different story. Their tournies have no entry fee's and it is all in the name of fun and Bragging rights. The Drunken Dolphin gets passed along to the winner at the end of each event.

Joe, I like the idea; my only suggestion is that I, for one, would not
like to bet on catching the most fish because I don't go out as often
as you, for example. Maybe most fish or most pounds in a single night,
or just do 60/40 and have two biggest fish win.

Will this be person or boat?? Do you have to do all the reeling??
cheers, arthur

if there isnt line classes, im not in. Im tired of hearing about people leaving 80's in the rod holder and "fighting" the fish. Its not fishing, it reeling.

2 day tourney on the 21st and 22nd of Jan. The full moon is 25th so the bite should be pretty good out there.

Joe and Mike, the two days suggested by Sabiking sounds ideal. Count us in whenever-whatever.

It's not at all practical and I'm not really suggesting it, but wouldn't it be cool 8) to have a Bimini Start. 50 or so sword boats, all geared up, fanning out to the North, South and Straight out of Port Everglades an hour or so before sundown.

That would be pretty sweet just to see and get pictures of that. I'm sure the people from Hillsboro and obviously from the Port wouldn't care, but people who go out of inlets south of the Port might not be thrilled with the idea. Could there be two inlets at start? That would kind of defeat the purpose and the effect, but I just don't see how a Bimini start could be possible...cool, but probably not happening.
