Just starting out, Could use some advise

I'm going to be fishing out of Venice La. I've tried fishing the 1000 Fathom Line two times with no luck. I was fishing a four line spread with the lines at 500 300 200 100 ft using squid and blue runners. What kind of bottom structure should I be looking for and what water depth, In such deep water, I wonder if I'm fishing deep enough. Any help would be Great.

Any type of bottom structure is good. I'm not familiar with the area you are fishing, but off of South FL, we fish anywhere from 800' to 2000'. I look for hills some of which come up 600'+.
