Default we're in

Bullfighter's going to give it a shot. Catching live bait last night and the radio was going off. Seems like everyone was doing great. Hope there's some left for us tonight. We'll also be giving it a try Sunday night with my brother from Seattle. (Grew up in the keys) Would love to get him hooked up with a nice sword. We'll let you know.

What a night!

We bought runners from "Top Dog" at halover and we were off around 6:30.

As soon as we got setup we had our first fish on and it went 51 inches, we released it.

About 10 minutes later we did a bait check and all our baits were slashed or missing.

We reset the lines and had our second fish tight... This time a 54 inch slim guy, we released it.

Finally at 11:30 I was checkin the lines and realized I had a fish so we got tight and he came right to the boat very very fast... I got the line all the way to the leader and we saw the fish dart by. Looked to be a solid 62 inch plus fish. Unfortunately he ran under the boat and cut me off.. we didnt have time to put it in freespool.. but thats swordfishing...

2 for 3 and numerous baits slashed was a fun night. Never saw the moon though.

I heard capt mitch was hooked up for over an hour...

Tight Lines.
Mike

Mike - It seems like lots of people have been having the same problem as you. Pretty much everyone I've talked to that's been out in the past week or so has had a bunch of baits slashed or cut in two. On Tuesday night (out iwth lhpfish) we went through something like 12 squids, most just cut in two. Almost made me think of putting a trailer hook on one of the rigs.

I had great hooksets on the live bait last night which was odd for me. I'm still pissed that we lost a big fish. It was nice to have the lines signing pretty much all night. Most people on the radio had there first fish at sunset and then again at 11:30. We hooked the one we lost at 11:15 and the smaller fish around sunset... Never stayed out late enough for the moon to rise though. The seas were 1 to 2 feet and with the sea anchor we sailed up the 49.9 the whole night.. the best drift I have had in a long time.

Thanks Joe. Top Dog sold me 8 runners for $30. I thought that was ok, since it is so hot this time of the year. I left the dock at 6:30 and had lines in the water right at sunset... Fished until 12:00.

If you catch a fish with a blue electralume hanging from its mouth.. its mine.

Mike I'm glad you finally got out there and had a good night as well. I have to tell ya, there must be a quite a few swordies around trailing electrolumes. I wonder what the other swordfish think when one goes swimming by with a light trailing. Actually I would love to see the face on one of my fellow swordfisherman when that fish come up in their light or around the boat and they can't figure out what rod its on 8O.

Tight Lines,

Scott
