The only issue I've had with my mp3000 is the counter. I'm actually in the process of sending it to Daiwa to get it fixed. Other than that, I'm happy with it. I had the opportunity to fish with the LP and MP, and IMO, the MP won hands down.

It wasn't a money thing, either. I just felt the MP was a better overall reel.

I've had my MP for almost 2 years now and have nothing to complain about. Zero issues. For awhile there I was using 22# weights and that thing just kept pulling them up without a groan. I'm sure the LP is good too, but I've never used one.
