Watsup everybody. I have posted here a few times and am always lurking and admiring the photos. I am looking to learn exactly how to swordfish and run the waters over there on the east coast at night and such. I have never been on the water over there and am cautious to take my boat over and try to run at night in unfamiliar waters.
I have been researching how to do it for the past year or so and have a general idea but I would like to experience it first hand and get some pointers from those that have been there and done it before I trailer my boat over from Naples and attempt to do it myself. I don't even want to be the angler I just want to help out, do whatever needs done, tie rigs, clean the boat, whatever. I can afford to chip in on gas, buy beer, and would love to clean the boat and do whatever needs done. I just want to learn and have some first hand on the water experience before I go over and attempt to do it on my own. I have an Avet TRX 50w spooled with 135# Jerry Brown Hollow Core on a custom rod I built, and a braid belt I could contribute to the cause as well. So if anyone is willing to let me tag along I would very much appreciate it and would contribute with anything possible. So let me know, I'll be there in two hours if need be ready to go. |

The nice part about boating on the southeast coast (above the Keys), is that you're pretty safe running just about anywhere on the ocean once you clear the inlet. If you run aground, it's because you're on the beach! hahaha All ya gotta do is know where the inlets are, and how to enter 'em. Beyond that, there's not much to run into except for other boats.

we have a spot for the trailer, truck and boat. we also have a guest cottage we rent out. get yourself a couple friends where it makes the $ equal out and spend a couple days fishing. Bimini is a shorter run for you then most of your bottom fish runs. swordfishing is a short run south also and you drift back north and we are on the water with a dock.

We have a group of guys with boats over here in Lauderdale (82 members - 60+ boats) that share trips + boats splitting costs only to fish all species. Many are running sword trips. This may be what your looking for .
This is a private group of only experienced fishermen and admittance is by invite only as it's not a forum but a club of friends. Boats are up + down both coasts and Keys but you may be seeking our specific area (Miami -Boca) for swords . We only open membership once a year for a couple days . do yourself a favor and get out with someone such as a guide that knows the waters and knows swordfishing. It will be the best money spent if you really want to jump the learning curve.
