Default Going out Wednesday Have questions

Hello everybody I have been reading for a while and this forum has convinced me to go for it Wednesday 7-27. My friends and I went last year once and hooked up with a nice 150 lber and it was awesome BUT we really are only doing what we read here. We really dont know what we are doing. We have the HMS permit and are legal and everything. I was wondering about a few things.

1) I hear people talking about using milk jugs what do you use them for? We just put the weight down and put the rods in the rod holders. How do you hook them up.

2) What is the Tip rod?

3) How deep should we fish our lines and how many? We have a 40' sportfish so plenty of room.

4) we are fishing off of boca and we seem to be in much closer than many of the other boats we see out there. I have also heard that yellowfin Tuna flash around the Hydroglow sometimes any thoughts on that.

Thanks everybody good luck and tight lines

On a sportfish it is tough to fish multiple tip rods, so we use balloons or milk jugs to stagger the baits away from the boat.

If you are fishing 2 tip rods, make sure you cover the 100ft range and 300 to 350ft range. You can adjust your baits accordingly according to the bite.

A tip rod is a rod that doesn't have a balloon or milk jug attached, it is fished straight off the tip in the rod holder... Most effective rod usually.

Out of Boca you have to run out a little further than the fort lauderdale guys..

I suggest you buy a swordfish chart.. I just noticed they sell them online here... check the home page..

The chart is full of goodies

Good Luck
