We left boca inlet at 7 am, trolled around a little bit mainly looking for dolphin and wahoo. At around 9:30 after a slow morning we decided to go do some deep drops. We've done a few before with no luck. At around 10 we got to the 49.5 ( i know its shallow but we are using an 80 with mono so we are kinda limited). We attach the 15lb weight to the squid and drop it down. The line goes slack and we break the weight off. Not even 1 minute after the bait hit the bottom One of the people on the boat says look at that fish jumping out of the water about 1500 feet away, the fished then jumped again which is when i relized that fish was on our line.
Needless to say after 3 1/2 hours and 4 people almost defeated by one fish we boated and estimated 250lber!!! 1st daytime fish on keepin it wet! Pictures to come forgot the digital so i had to get a disposible

What a fatty.
Great work. I will hopefully be trying some daytime dropping in a couple weeks off Islamorada since the nightime swording has been terrible for me so far this year. I am 0 for 4 trips this year. Juani |
