Default Hydroglow/other light power

We have a larger boat which does not provide access to a battery without going down into the engine room. I'd prefer not to buy a battery to power the a light such as a hydroglow or green magnet. We have power outlets in the cockpit but the lights run off of those battery clips. We do however have one of these 12 volt battery starters.

Could we simply connect the two ends and turn it on? I have not bought one yet but this would definatly help my decision. Thanks. Also would you feel that it is 100% necessary to have one of these when going swordfishing?

I fish on a big boat as well and would recommend buying a 5 amp 12 volt battery recharger for the same price. You can plug it into any 110 outlet to run your hydroglow. For a secure connection cut the alligator clips off both light and recharger and replace with male/female connectors. It works great just make sure to keep the recharger on manual.

A jumpstarter works perfect but make sure you charge it before the trip :!:

Since your on the subject of lights Im thinking of buying one of the hydroglow lights but have never seen one being used out here on the west coast,Ive used the small 8 inch green lights for catching bait for marlin and swordfish,How much more light do these put out.Does the 4 footer put out that much more light than the 2 footer?Theres not that much more amp drain between the two.Your answers are appreciated. Tim

very big difference in the light you have now and hydraglow 4ft. i use to fish 2 of those 34in lights and it was good. but this hydraglow puts out about 16 of the 24in lights probaly more.

also swordfish123 the jumper does run the hydraglow gave it a shot this weekend and worked real well. def. betterthan a battery
