Default oil $117

Gas at the port wholesale is $3 a gal so fill up on your way home today. They say oil might hit $150 now.

Is the cost of fuel and other everyday expences affecting your fishing habits?

Easy there they might think you are making to much money. My sister is paying $3.90 a gal for diesel up north. That is a discount rate because they buy 5,000 gal at a time for there head boats.

Nah, the drilling company buys the 300gph that we burn for 6 hours on the way out to their drilling platform. My fishing vessel is a 165' Breaux's Bay Craft named the Raymond M

I buy in quantities of 2000 to 3000 gallons a drop for our construction company and we are no above 3.85 a gallon wholsale!

At the NMFS A/P meeting everyone was talking about what this is going to do to the offshore fishery.

Imagine being a PLL that is getting the same price for swordfish that they were getting 4 years ago when diesel was less tha $1.00!

Boats either aren't fishing, or they are fishing closer to shore.

Yep,four years ago it was around $1.25 for commercial diesel and the year before that it was around a dollar.I started commercial fishing 5 years ago and fish prices haven't changed much. You can't fish closer to shore if the fish aren't there, you still have to go where ever they are.

I think there should be a national strike on fuel!It is rediculous.

My uncle runs a big machine shop up here in Jville and does bearings for ships sometimes. He was talking with one of the owners of a container ship and he told them they burned around 10,000 gallons of fuel per day!

I fueled up my Diesel Mega Cab last Thursday....4.19 a gallon.....ON LAND
That makes me feel a little better when I pay 5.00 a gallon at the dock in Lucaya.
I guess you got to pay to play....and I'm not putting a sail on my Corntender
