Get ready for a real oil shock. I believe oil will be over $200 a bbl. within a year. Could crush the worlds economy.
Willie, don't blame bush, oil is a market commodity, blame the traders on the exchange.
China is drilling off the coast of cuba and we can't even drill off our own coast.....go figure.
No new refineries built in years.......reaks of political corruption. Even if we had more oil supply we are already running at maximum production at the refineries.
One regional conflict in the middle east could spike the crude price to $200 over night.....I believe it is a major reason we are establishing a foothold in iraq. Don't believe we will take their oil but the US will try to stabilize the area so we can continue to have a adequate supply.

Well the Pres , could get rid of the Taxes on the fuel costs for now ...let some out of the reseves ... might help in the short run ... but most people can`t afford the high cost ... it has definatly hurt our economy .my work has practicly come to a dead stop ...no calls in 3 weeks ... . hell we might become a 3world country ... BTW how many guy`s are still going swording twice a week ?

Its not that oil has gone up, rather the dollar has plummeted. Look at other commodities, there all at record highs!

Bimini diesel 5.28 gal this weekend
Chub diesel 5.79 gal

Yes, I am fishing less because of the fuel pricing

I just turn the radio on while throwing a line out, (ON THE PIER, mind you), and if I feel like making believe I'm navigating thru some chop, just turn the hose on for spraying effect.....

terrorism at it's best. no need to send planes into buildings anymore, just kill the economy!!!
Everyone in every aspect is feeling tghe pain now. Soon there will only be 2 classes of people, middle class will cease to exist!
Every single day, the gas stations are raising prices (that should not happen regardless as it should only happen when they get their tanks re-filled) Everyone is feeding on the frenzy. If we have a hurricane this year add at least another dollars worth of premium. I can go on for day's talking about this issue but it's not gonna help! As for fishing less, no, I'm not going to. The cost is still cheaper than seeing a shrink a few times a week and being on meds. A nice day on the water fishing seems to be the best cure of everything, always!! Just another way to look at it.

The devaluation of the $ is one of the primary reasons (and that can be
blamed on Bush's policies) but there are other factors related to global
demand and production. The only way we are going to see any price
breaks is to reduce energy consumption by 10-20% a person in this
country. We should all stay home this summer. cheers, arthur

This may sound crazy but by this time next year (and possibly sooner) gas proces will be much lower. It's simple supplyand demand. Everyone in this country (unless you're a millionaire) has altered their fuel consumption as a result. Either by trading in the big suv for a smaller compact suv, or others have bought hybrids and still others have switched to commuting on scooters. At the same time you have the big push for alternative fueled vehicles and the automakers building more fuel efficient vehicles. Others simply don't drive as much, or don't go fishing as often, if they do they fish inshore or in closer. For example, I decided to go spearfishing at the patch reefs only 4 miles out as opposed to going further out or dolphin fishing this weekend. I also decide to spearfish because I would not have to spend money on bait since fuel was more expensive. At the same time the whole "green" movement is also reducing oil consumption.

That whole scenario alone reduces demand. Add to that the fact that some of the wells in Alaska that were considered dried up are actually being tapped again thanks to modern technology and oil fields in the Arctic Ocean once considered unreachable are also being explored thanks to modern technology.

The biggest factor will come when the people have had enough. We as a country have just about reached that point then add all the above mentioned factors and our dependence on oil will decline. When it all blows up the same thing will happen with oil that happened with the housing market. The same thing happened in the 70's with the oil crisis

Like everything excessive or addictive you have to hit rock bottom before you get back up.

JMHO.

A barrel of oil at $117.00 / 42 gallons is $2.78 a gallon before shipping, refining, and delivery.
