Exclamation You Decide

What does Buoy fishing contribute to our local economy

$450,000.00 fish sold local at restaurants, and fish markets based on
30,000 pounds at a retail price of $15.00 per pound
$40,000.00 Gas per month based on 200 trips at $200 per trip
$40,000.00 bait, food, drinks, ice
$530,000.00 monthly $$ spent in local economy
$6,360,000.00 Spent annually in local economy by and due to our local
Buoy Sword fishermen

What Recreational Sword fishermen contribute

$40,000.00 Rec Gas based on 200 trips at $200 per trip
$30,000.00 bait, food, drinks, ice based on 200 trips at $150 per trip
$70,000.00 monthly $$ spent in local economy
$840,000.00 Spent annually in local economy

Yep we recreational Sword fishermen spend millions a year on this sport. I did not include gear since that is a start up fee , and as the nice boats we use to fish from most of them are financed and that expense goes to the banks or some other finance company in Idaho so I do not consider this money spent back in to our local economy.

These numbers are my best guess based on what I spend per trip Sword fishing myself, and from what I know about buoy fishing.

Now before all the recreational fishermen on this site get their panties in a wade remember we are only talking about Swordfish

Well put. Do not forgot also the cost of the ball, leader, lights, etc.
I'm not siding with the buoys.... just trying to be realistic.

Nick that is why I did not inlcude gear on either side since that is a start up fee for both, and with the discounts the commercial fishermen get on those types of products due to volume I am sure it would balance out as well just like the gas, and other stuff

Thats some funny stuff, talk about not being able to see the forest through the trees. Nice numbers I have NEVER seen anyone spin numbers better than that. What a joke.

My point was that it is funny how the numbers represented for the rec side are skewed just to prove a point and that proves nothing. Example 200 rec trips a month. That number is arguable double. It really does not matter that much to me what numbers were presented , just though it to be outlandishly silly just to prove a point. And what are the buoy guys spending a half of million dollars on per month?

Also Nick - we will leave personal attacks out of this OK!

How do you highlight that personally thing?

I knew I should have paid attention that day in computer class.
