Default Swordfishing in Portugal

Going to Lisbon Portugal on a vacation in the middle of April. Does anyone have experience fishing over there on a charter boat. Recommendations? The goal would be swords, marlin, tuna, or any other large pelagic species. Thanks.

I have been to both Lisbon and Madeira. I can't tell you on the fishing, but I can tell you Lisbon is an awesome place to visit. I know they have an awesome fishery there and you will have no problem finding a fishing charter.

If you get a chance to travel to the square, make sure you have a beer and some tapas on the side of the road. You wont be disappointed.

If you make it to Madeira, make sure you ride the cable car to the top of the mountain and get a cold beer. You can keep the beer mug. Make sure you buy the wine as well.

Awesome place to visit....

Portugal has a good run of whites and very large blues off the Algarve coast but I think April is a bit too early on the season.

Thanks for the tips guys. I have heard the same about the Marlin season. It seems that it does not really start until July. But I think they may have swordfish over there in April. They probably fish for them entirely different then what we do. It would be cool to see how they do it, and maybe implement some of that over here.

Since it seems that there are plenty of charter boats available, I will probably just play it by ear when I get over there. But if anyone has a specific charter recommendation, that would be great.

If in Lisbon you must take the 30 minute ride to Sentra a small village to the west of Lisboa I was married there 3 years ago and to tell you the truth I strugle yearly to find a more beautyful place to vacation.

Enjoy

Portugal is great; don't know much about the pelagics but you have the best of both worlds...you can travel inland to the vineyards one day, and hang out and surf and eat all the fresh seafood you want the next....take some pics if you get offshore...p
