Default 50-Line Forecast: Feb 1-4

50-line forecast for the Lighthouse Point area.

As of Sunday, February 3rd, 1:55pm
Sunday and Monday nights still look good. But be aware that the wave period shortens a lot a Monday reaches midnight. Tuesday and Wednesday look kinda bumpy. It should calm down a bit for Thursday.

This graph was derived from http://www.BuoyWeather.com

It's getting late have you seen my mates
Ma tell me when the boys get here
It's seven o'clock and I want to rock
Want to get a belly full of beer

My old man's drunker than a barrel full of monkeys
And my old lady she don't care
My sister looks cute in her braces and boots
A handful of grease in her hair

Don't give us none of your aggravation
We had it with your discipline
Saturday night's alright for fighting
Get a little action in

Get about as oiled as a diesel train
Gonna set this dance alight
`Cause Saturday night's the night I like
Saturday night's alright alright alright

Well they're packed pretty tight in here tonight
I'm looking for a dolly who'll see me right
I may use a little muscle to get what I need
I may sink a little drink and shout out "She's with me!"

A couple of the sound that I really like
Are the sounds of a switchblade and a motorbike
I'm a juvenile product of the working class
Whose best friend floats in the bottom of a glass

Well, if there was an opposite of "crushing 'em"... that's what we did. Swordfished from 3pm Friday to sunrise Saturday morning, with only 1 hookup, which ended in a snapped line due to some unknown failure. And of course, the sword came shallow after the break to flaunt its new flashing purple prize.

But there were some BIG fish caught Friday night. At least 2 over 400lbs. One was a 97-incher, confirmed by a friend of ours who had to help hoist it into the angler's boat.

The forecast was 100% for Friday night/Saturday morning. Including that damn sudden south-to-north swing around 5:45am. That totally flipped our entire spread within minutes. Before that, the breeze was so slight, I was sending the deep tip bait straight down past 300ft with only a 4oz egg sinker.

We ended up 2 for 3 last night. It was an early bite for us. The first fish came at 6:25, before we even had our full spread out, and was 51". About 45 minutes later we got hit on our long jug, but couldn't keep it on. Our third fish hit just before 8 and I fought her for 45 minutes with 30 lbs. of drag. It was only me and Cathy last night, and she did a great job clearing the other lines and keeping me on the fish. We finally got her to the boat and I stuck her with the straight gaff, then it took everything we had to get her over the gunnel. After 10 minutes in the "Flatfish B" choke hold, we got a measurement on her. Final tally was 73" and really fat. 200 pounder, give or take 10. We were spent, and had our 2 fish limit, so we packed up and headed home. Back at the dock at 9:45. Thanks to Maurader1 for stopping by and helping get her off the boat. Here's a pic of the big one.
