Mono will work just fine, but most guys are using at least 200-300 lb. test for their leaders and 80 lb. test for the mainline.

I like 400lb test.
I saw another post of yours about using 150lb test but for marlin in Mexico. Are you asking about 150lb because you don't own crimpers and it's the heaviest mono you can knot? |
