Question Foul Weather Gear for Swording

I'm looking into getting a new set of Foul Weather Gear for swording.
I'm pretty much sold on Grundens but they have some new stuff out and want to know what you hard cores think. I'm fishing it here in Florida so I don't need the Alaskan Crabbing sub zero stuff.
I'm tending towards the Harvester w/ neoprene cuffs & Harvester 17 Bibs.
Both Tops & Bibs are running around $87 each. Plus $18 for shipping.
Looking for guys that have put them thru the nightly grind test of commercial grade use, not just a few nights of abuse, any input?
Also if you know of a place that can beat those prices would be cool.

IM with info if you prefer not to post. But I'm sure other Swordsmen would be interested.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Check out Grand Slam in Jupiter or Palm Beach. I got my Grundens at the Jupiter store. It is by far the best money I have spent for fishing

Get orange too

You can even get some "customized" Grundens. They look awesome with a full color image on them.

Thumbs down frog togs

Stay away from the frog togs. Got a set for a gift. At first I thought they were pretty cool. Very breathable, but didn't hold up to the punishment. One years fishing later, they look like a blue wooly mammoth suit.

Stay away from the Helly Hansen line as well. I bought a set about two years ago from bass pro and it was horrible. Very wet and now literally falling apart. The seams tore on both shoulders.

I have been very happy with my Grundens. You can't go wrong with em. Reasonable price, durable and very good quality.

Push Button - Where did you get yours customized? It came out awesome.

I have a set of the Helly Day Sailors. They worked well when they were new, but for fishing they don't last long when you have to wash them alot. The velcro takes a crap. For what we all do, the PVC suits are the best.

PB2, I think my order is in!?!?

I find all of the pvc suits to be too hot for Florida fishing. I've got a set of Bimini Bay rain gear that's done well for several seasons (8 months/year) plus a token bit of commercial fishing in the off season. The Bimini Bay gear was in the same range as the aforementioned...something like 150-170 for the jacket and bibs. There are plenty of velcro straps etc to tighten cuffs etc, and they breathe! They're not as durable as a pvc suit, but nothing really is. PVC is just too hot for Florida.

Pushbutton, those look so good I think I could go to a bar and get layed in them. I see a set of those in the future with my logo.

Boboe, I've been using breathable gear for years now but I've found they don't hold up to extended use, and end up seeping. They also tend to hold the fish slime and get funky quickly. They can't go in the washer and even scrubbing them doesn't seem to get the funk out. I do like the fact that they are cooler and thats why I've kept with them so long now, but it's time to try something else, but truly, thanks for the input I know why you like them. I will keep my breathable gear for boating and non-hardcore fishing days.

Purple Fever, I did a quick look at the Aftco gear, they seems pretty pricey, almost twice that of Grundens. Do you use them? If so, for how long? Does the material hold the fish slime. How easy are they to clean?

I'm always the one on the boat that deals with the fish so my gear takes a beating.

For those that use Grundens, what model/style do you use and why? When it comes time to buy again would you go with a different model or get the same?

Thanks again to everyone for your input.

I've washed my Bimini Bay gear many times. It gets funky and needs a wash. It has care instructions on a tag. They've begun to seep after 3 years of heavy use, but I'd be sweating as much or more in PVC gear. Even if I threw these out after 3 years of use, $150 for a set isn't hellatiously expensive.
