Default 1st Annual YoYo Daytime Swordfish tournament

The Cubanacan Fishing Club is proud to present the 1st annual Yoyo tournament being held Sept. 22nd 2007 out of Miami. For more information, go to Cubanacan Club de Pesca .
Ok, it is not going to be an official daytime swordfish tournament, but I am going to be the first to attempt to catch a swordfish during the daytime with a Cuban YoYo in the middle of the Gulfstream at depths beyond 1,800 ft. Call me crazy, but the daytime swordfishing was getting boring, so I had to come up with a new challenge.
I'm pumped up with the gloves on and ready to fight the beast "'MANO A MANO" like my grandparents used to do it in a small town in southern Cuba that Hemingway named "The Pearl of the South", better known as Cienfuegos.
LETS GET IT ON !!!!
Here we are getting our gear ready

Default Do you think that Yo-Yo is big enough for the job?

Oye:

There's always a machismo guajiro in the crowd. Do you think that Yo-Yo is big enough for the job?

So are you coming up to the Lighthouse Point Pirate's Hideaway after the following Morgan's sunrise for the evening's presentation of how you are supposed to use that machina for catching an Espada in the day time?

P.S. - That looks more like a Telecom cable that you could lay from Miami all the way to Cienfugos. Just remember for that Coconut telegraph to work properly over such a long distance, you have to hold it Tight.

I'll be there at the meeting tomorrow.
Have the YoYo Capts meeting on Thursday. It will be a memorable weekend fighting the Beast a Mano. Now, all I have to do is find a YoYo big enough to put on 1000 yards of braid with 100 yards of mono top shot. Just found out that the one in the picture will not fit inside the boat.

1000 yards of braid on a yo yo sounds dangerous, good way to kiss a finger or 2 goodby, But if you find a industral size yo yo let me know, Ive been looking for 1 myself. I heard there is a guy in the Virgin Is. that makes some by hand out of a piece of PVC pipe, no idea how to look him up though.

Default ...I think that I will be getting daily beatings with the chancleta.

If I don't get very busy with the kitchen project, I think that I will be getting daily beatings with the chancleta. Don't think that I will be able to attend the Mana a Mano tournament, but at least I know that I am welcome/"meet the alternate Latino affiliation qualifications" at your club.

But this is exactly the way we fish for wahoo, high speed style. The only exception is we do attach a 3 lb. in line cigar weight and tie it to one of those fancy fiberglass rods with a snap swivel and line: " so that the fish does not yank us into the water when it strikes." Other than that we send out the lure with a Yo-Yo. I can even cast too.

https://secure.atagulf.com/cgi-local...ducts_page.cgi search YoYo

So where can you pick up those finger protectors? Or is this the reason why we now have sailing gloves that don't cover your fingers?

No finger protectors here, we are wearing heavy duty gloves. You cannot take a risk with Braid. We might have a trial run today at around 3, since we do have to get back in time for the meeting up north.
Call us crazy, but we are going to give it a try Mano a Mano...
I was going the opposite way, even using electrics. Hell no, not for me. I travel the road less traveled. The rewards are sweeter.. Now, let me take another drink of this fine old Scotch..
I've been going to Atlantic Gulf for some time. They don't have big YoYo's.
Bobby you have some serious competition here in Miami. Wait till you see what we are going to bring up from the abyss. Too bad you're not going to have a weigh station down here.
