Default Just a little taste.....The Jurassic Drift Swordfish Tournament

WTF is up with this wind? I feel like it has been blowin for months

Personally, I am getting amped up waiting to fish Drew's tournament. Last night I was over at my friend Johnny's drinking portions of rum and eye'in that monster squid he has all rigged up All I got to say is "Controlled Slack, in to win it" If something eats that thing, my reels might be to small, let alone the boat I missed the last Darkside Tournament and it killed me, getting the phone calls while I was studying for Finals.....nothing is worse Regardless......it payed off and it reflected in my grades

Drew's tournament draws the best competition, so I am hoping the weather holds and everybody comes out for the biggest and best swordfish tournament in the world, with the highest payouts.

Turtle and I are working hard to try and follow the Darkside Tournament with another good event. We want to make this clear from the get go, we dont get to fish our tournament, so if you are suffering from "Financial Embarassment" please fish Drew's so we get to fish against you...and if you know me, you know how sincere of a comment that is

That being said......Turtle and I have recieved many PMs, Phone Calls, and Emails asking exactly what The Jurassic Drift is all about. Because we are rebuilding the website and out of respect for Drew's Tournament, there will be no post other than this until after the Darkside Tournament but out of fairness to our sponsors......I just wanted to give you a little taste.

The theme for the tournament is:

"North vs. South in the Hunt for Big Nasty"
There will be two weigh stations, one right inside the Palm Beach Inlet and one in Ft Lauderdale.

The General Entry fee for the Jurassic Drift is $200 100% payout all across the board in every division, and then there will be a mandatory donation of $50 to purchase and refurbish more satellite tags for additional research so we can get what Vinny calls "Science" and learn more about the species. I am going to keep it simple but there will be a couple other divisions to fish including:

Tinker Mack: This Division is Absolutely Free and the top Junior Angler at the discretion of the tournament committee will receive prizes and a trophy. The Jurassic Drift defines a Junior Dinosaur Hunter as under the age of 16.

Darkside Diva: Lets find out who is the Queen of the Darkside!

The Gladiator
Defeat the Gladiator and earn your share!

Big Nasty
Catch Swordzilla and your paid!

In addition, we have added some prize divisions that are layed out in the same format as a regular division with a buy in, maybe this will make it clearer.....

Alutecnos 80 Wide “Get Tight” Challenge: $80 Entry Per Boat
For Every 10 Boats that enter, an additional Alutecnos 80 wide will be added as the award for heaviest fish weighed. Subject to number of entries, first place boat will win up to six reels, remaining reels will go to second place boat.

The Crowder Rods “Standup Classic”: $25 Entry Per Boat
For Every 10 Boats that enter there will be a Top of the Line Custom Crowder Swordfish Rod as the award for the heaviest fish entered. Subject to number of entries, first place boat will win up to six rods, remaining rods will go to second place boat.

BAHAMALURE “ ROCK N’ TROLL ALL NIGHT” CALCUTTA

All Jurassic Drift paid entries are automatically entered, no extra entry fee

If a boat’s troll caught fish is larger than the drift caught fish it may be brought to the scales and will be eligible for all paid tournament calcuttas and prizes. If the troll caught fish is smaller than the drift caught fish it may still be brought to the scales, in addition to the drift caught entry, to be eligible for the trolling prizes.

Proof of troll caught will be a digital photo date stamped with a future date to be announced at the captain’s meeting. Photo must clearly show –

1.Fish still in the water, lure clearly visible - no gaffs
2.Date stamp

BahamaLure swordfish lure pack awarded to heaviest troll caught fish

BahamaLure swordfish lure pack PLUS 80# Custom Swordfish BahamaRod awarded for heaviest troll caught fish if caught on a BAHAMALURE.

In the event no trolled fish are weighed released fish will receive lure prizes.

BAHAMALURES are now available at LMR Tackle 1495 SE 17 St. Ft. Lauderdale. 954-525-2592.

There are severeal other sponsors we have lined up including everybody's favorite:

and

There will be an awesome Capt Party including Raffles, food, drink, music and we are hoping that everybody will come out with their entire family. Our goal is create awareness and get more Jr. Angler and Female Anglers out their on the Darkside. More people fishing equals more people that are aware of what a great fishery we have here and will help us protect the fishery into the future.

I am not going to give you all the details yet........so everybody come out and fish against us in the Darkside of the Moon "Summer Swordfish Slam"
so we can find out who's top dog this year, and then hopefully Turtle and I can follow up with a fun even for the family yet at the same time providing fierce competition.

If the first event is a success, we will follow by future events located directly in between Drew's tournament on the Calendar

I will be over at Arthur's tonight, hope to see some of you there

Johnny
