Skip call the Sands on the intracoastal and Atlantic blvd. That is where we have our club (PBOA pompano beach offshore anglers) weigh-ins.
There's plenty of dock space, A nice area to the left of the bar to setup the scale. We usually have the capt meeting and awards ceremony there too. It's a win-win for the sands since we spend money on food and drink. Call them or I can give you a contact to our club officials, maybe they can help. ps. only thing is not sure about how you would setup the kinda scale you would need to weigh one of the slobs that are sure to be caught??

Fairly sure we have an offloading site, will know today.
What we will need is a truck with some type of lifting device for a few hours. The truck will be able to park close enough to the seawall to lift the fish off the boat. Make sure it has your Company name on it as the weigh-in will probably be televised

You can get an entry form by sending me an email or go to RJ Boyle's shop and pick one up there.
skip@customshootout.com We have had 6 boats ask for entry forms so far. Three of them have signed up at RJS. One for the Manual division. The weather report looks good too. SATURDAY SOUTH WINDS 5 TO 10 KNOTS. SEAS 2 FEET OR LESS. INTRACOASTAL WATERS A LIGHT CHOP. SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. Last edited by Skip Smith : 07-28-2008 at 07:41 PM. |

the Captain's meeting will be tonight at RJ's shop. The meeting will start at 5:55pm and it should be over by 6pm.
Quite a few people are coming by his shop to drop off their $$$ and entry forms at 6pm. After that its off to the Cove for cocktails. Well the meeting went great, 14? boats to battle it out. Last edited by Skip Smith : 08-02-2008 at 11:30 AM. |

Frick and Frack won with a 350 and change, Vitamin Sea was second with two fish for a total weight of 300 and change. The fish were definitely there. Someone switched our hooks with rubber ones, and we went 0-9 with a stretch where we had a bite on 7 consecutive drops. Can't get them every time!

The weigh-in was a fantastic set up. Thanks to Vinnie and Ron for putting this together.
Jeff the owner of South Florida Diving Headquarters, South Florida Diving Headquarters located at Fish City Marina was kind enough to let us use his dock and even moved his dive boat to make more room for us. What a first class operation. He let one of our club members David Weiler back up his truck with a hydrolic davit on the back, right up to the seawall. We were able to pick each fish up right out of the boat with it, to weigh each fish. Everyone that fished the Outing and that stopped by the docks said they had a great time! Most everyone caught fish or had plenty of bites and pulled off some nice fish. The Tactical 1 released a 700 lb plus 6 gill shark. RJ Boyle and crew on the Datsnasty, threw a 3/4 sword on the dock along with the Mako that ate it. The Mako was 257.5 lbs and the Sword was over 100. The following fish were weighed in: 1st place: Frick & Frack 357 lb fish 2nd place: Vitamin Sea with two fish, 147.5 and a 156. total of 303.5 3rd place: Tactical 1, 241.4 lb fish 4th place: Skirt Chaser, 85 lb fish. Photos were taken by quite a few onlookers and hopefully someone will be able to post a few on here. The Guts girls, Amy Heemsoth, Graduate Student, Oceanographic Center, Nova Southeastern University and her friend gutted every fish and took home their treasures to study. Thanks to Ron, David and everyone that fished the event! Last edited by Skip Smith : 08-03-2008 at 01:19 PM. |
