Default Big Nasty #3 for the boys on Marauder1

After reading about the Team Fiasqo tuna slaughter of last weekend, the crew was assembled for tuna fest round two. Me, Ryan, and Nick procured plenty of livies on friday, but after a 2 AM meal at Flannigans with the crew, the weather was not looking favorable. I got the call at 6 that morning, the trip was scrubbed . Liti and Untouchable put a hurtin on the snook instead, but I still had the itch. Sunday night sword trip? Call up Eric and Sean and they are down. But wait, the weather looks like sh!t again, but this time no one gived a damn, we were going regardless.

Around 6 we punch out Boca into a heavy leftover swell and some light rain. Fuel up and head out to the grounds. By 8 we had the spread out. I went to adjust the mid jug and it suddenly zipped out of my hands and the jug goes down. Damn that was quick, fish feels heavy but not active. I get harnessed up and play the gain 2 cranks loose 10 game. While im still thinkin its not very big it takes off on a huge run and jumps 150+yds out. Hey wait, maybe he isnt so small
To be continued..........

What a lame attempt at foreshadowing. Does someone need some special attention?

The fish made one jump, I was the only one to see it. I said it was big, but got the "how big?" response. Dogged it out for another half hour and we were steadily gaining on the fish, got the windon on the reel, unclipped the light, then it jumped again, right next to the boat :eek3: . Then slack, before anyone could react, the fish was around the swordlight and the props, jumped on the other side of the boat wacking a rod with its bill, and then right when we thought it was over I came tight again, the only thing that broke was the swordlight. After another strong run we really started puttin the heat to him and steadily he came up. After several wide circles Sean met him with the gaff, then Eric, then over the rail. Damn he is heavy :king:. Looks bigger than the 82 that RayJ caught, taped out at 84-85" and fat all the way. Fight time was a little over 1 hour on an Alutecnos 50.

Put the spread back out for an hour with only a shark cutoff to show for it. Headed in when we were right off LHP to go weigh the thing. Hoist him up and tips the scales a couple lbs shy of 300. Maybe not the biggest fish, but my biggest for sure, and nice to finally catch on myself after watching two others fight 80+" fish on my boat in the last 3 weeks . Enjoy

A couple pics
