Purchased a brand new hydroglow last year. Plugged it in and it never worked.....right out of the box it was a bust.
Returned it and picked up a Swordlite, workin like a champ from day 1. Word on the street is that hydraglow bulbs are too long and too fragile, a very problematic design for offshore use. The Swordlite is half the size, and gives off the same amount of lite with the "U" shape bulb. Easier to store and more durable...no comparison between the two.

Swordlight. I have the green/white and it rules. Durable and you don't have to worry about it really. I put mine just off the side on the same side as mine lines so when we move the boat with a fish we don't have to worry about the light. I also love the fact that it is already weighted.
Here is a pic of mine in action: ![]()

The swordlight is more durable. They can all brake, the multicolor swordllights are weaker then single color They are all a light they will break. Hydroglows do break often, but they also give you a new light for free no questions asked.

Ive got one Lucky Spot and two sword lights. If I was only buying one it would be a swordlight. The Lucky Spot sounds good in theory (no external power source) but they seem to leak and break and the light spins under water like an underwater lighthouse. It seems to throw a larger radius of light than the sword lights and since it has no power cord can go as deep as a hundred feet down. I like it fine as a compliment to the other lights, less so on its own. |
