My .02,

Both companies have tremendous customer service.

Swordlight has a better product, hands down. The difference between the lights is the distance between the bulb and the tube. The lights break when flex causes tube to touch bulb. There is a greater distance between the bulb and the tube in a swordlight because Jim uses twin smaller bulbs instead of the regular bulb that you would find in the cieling lighting as HyrdoGlow uses.

I saw that Hydroglow now makes the 2' version as well, so we will see if they experience less breaks with that model due to less flex in the tube.

Until then, if you want the best product, it is the Swordlight. I dont know why someone would want the brightest light, I think that would do more harm than good. Have you ever been swimming under a pool by the pool light, you can see chit, it is blinding.

Either way you go, I dont think you will be dissapointed.

Chit, I guess I have been lucky. I've had my hydro glow for two years and it's still working fine. I switched out the plug on it when I got it to connect it to my kite rod and deep drop outlet under the gunwale.

I guess I have also been very careful with it....make sure it's carefully pulled out of the water before taking off (I have a friend who goes, through sea anchors and lights monthly because he forgets and takes off on plane with chit still in the water), that it's not banging against the hull when deployed, that it's placed in the case when underway, and that when it's floating, the cord is not pulling directly on the outlet.

If and when it goes though, I will get a swordlight. I like the glow on em better.

J

I have had both and NO comparison - SWORDLIGHT is the way to go. Smaller, as oer more bright and VERY durable. You could hit baseballs with it! OR unruly crew , or big swordies!!!!!!!!

Sorry Bonnie and Clyde - But Durability is #1. IT is no good if it won't work on a trip irregardless of the service. And oh SWORDLIGHT will replace/fix on the spot as well...DUKE

The light was tested and smashed through drywall. I believe it was 5/8" and it may have been more than one sheet.

Relentless33, Olympus Stylus 770. Waterproof to 33ft.

I can't wait to read a report, "Yea, we used the Swordlight to beat the fish to death."

I read a diving article on that camera where the diver took it to 52 feet, which was the bottom of where he was diving so he couldn't test it any deeper.

I know a guy that bought one and took it to South America and said it was awesome.

Hmm. Don't know if I'm brave enough to try that with my camera Good Work on Nasty

Cool. It's on then. I already told Jim the plan. He says it'll handle it.

Best precaution is to have 2 lights

We usually fish two lights. Hydro on top and a blue sword down low. I ve never had an issue with my Hydro glow you just have to be a bit more cautious and always use the case.

The one thing I dont like about the Hydro is that I think its tooo bright.
