What do I do now

I have been 3 times in the last 10 days with no bites. Fishing small squid at 75', 150', 200', 300' and one floater off the bow at 75' and one then we fish one in and out off the back. I fish out of Port Everglades and have done o.k. in the past but have not been in a while. Has something changed or am I just out to lunch. Thanks for the help.

It has been slow everywhere all month..... I have read some reports of getting a "little better" but overall very slow....

First off, mix things up. Don't use just small quid, put some big boys out. Also, try dying some quid - green, red and purple work well. Drop some dead fish in the spread (rig em head down) - macks, mullet, ladyfish, and small little tunnies. Put live bait in the spread - tinker macks, blue runners, yellowtail, goggle eyes, and/or rainbow runners. Chum heavy with squid chum (sold at Boater's World and some other shops) or with crushed lobster/crab. (Don't use any fish based chum or you will attract the man in the gray suit)Don't let baits sit too long and don't stay on the same drift for much more than an hour. Move - come in shallower, go deeper, move south, move north.

It has been a little slow but improving. I am 0 for three in my last three trips though I have had some good hits I missed. My crew and I (Team Fintastic) were red hot from January through June (21 swords...many of these releases) basically mixing things up, keeping a log, making adjustments and monitoring the Forums for any useful nuggets of info even though lots of folks embellish their catches especially those who never post pix. Luck is always welcome too.

Put out some big squids too, and maybe a live bait or two.

Its all about time on the water - soaking baits. Go with some bigger baits as everyone else said and try to mix up your lp lights as well. The only thing that I have tried recently and done so with success was a small flashing light ($15 its a little bigger than the size of a quarter) that I picked up at Custom Rod and Reel in light house point. I hung it on my swivel and there is no doubt it has brought more attention to my spread. The color I have been using is blue and it flashes like a strobe. I have caught a keeper on each of my last two trips. Regrettfully none of them were big but dinner was served. I fish with squid about 98% of the time but it may be time to try out some live bait.

The only other thing we tried in the last few weeks happened by accident. A blue glow stick broke and the glow juice got all over the squid. On that particular slow night, the blue glowing squid got nailed after a 15 minute soak. Unfortunately it was a shark but I am willing to give that a try again. That may be interesting and I would be curious if anyone else has given that a shot or if the do I want to know if it worked.

I thought of that, but I was scared that the squid would emit some chemical smell and actually discourage the bite....

i actually called poison control to ask them about the toxicity of the liquid in glow sticks. I particularly asked him about fish, the guy i talked to said that it is non-toxic and shouldnt emit a smell. So im going to take his word on it and try it!

Great Advice from Capt. Juan!
I also had a great deal of luck fishing in No man's land. For me that's the area North of Boca, South of Lake Worth. According to the charts, there's no hills, No humps, etc. but there is fish!
