Default Marauder1 Swordin over past week

Swordy bite has been very consistant over the past 10 days, avg 2-3 fish a night, but many were small. Deep jigging has been good, lots of scamps, one decent warsaw, and endless AJ's/bonies. Went trolling once and found some decent dolphin in 800 along with a decent hoo.

These fish were from back in late July, just thought I would ad them as well

The biggest surprise was to come tonight, August 14. A year ago today myself and Nick C had a close call with a nasty electrical storm on the 50. However, reports of some big fish the previous night proved too tempting, and we found ourselves along with Ray J Fly-Bye departing Boca around 6:00. Hauled azz through some rain and set up in the zone. By 9:40, the shallow jug on the alutecnos 80 takes off and Ray is on the rod. The fish is up on top screaming around the boat , and then suddenly decides he wants no part of us dumping some serious line and then heading down deep. Ray stuck with him and an hour and 45 minutes later a fatty pops up, I plant the dart, Nick gaffs, and then we pull, and pull. But this fish is heavy and does not want to come in. He is a little too wide for the tuna door, so we regroup and eventually heave him over the gunnel, the fish lands with a solid thud . Tape him out to 82 inches and super fat . Not bad for Ray's first swordy. Spread goes back out and before you know it the deep tip gets bumped and a 55 incher joins the bloodbath. Head to LHP to weigh in and the fish tips the scales over 250 By the time we were home and the fish was cleaned, the other contender rolls down the canal with a fat 64 incher, guess the bite is HOT

Congrats on some great fishing. Those are some great fish, but that last one is freakin awesome. I am somewhat new to swordfishing. How much relation is there to the moon and the bite? I can't help but notice that your bite on the big one was at 9:40, and moonset was right around 9:30. I caught one and missed another about a week and a half ago that were both right around the moon rise. Just curious.

There prolly is, but they bite whenever. We seem to get consistant bites on the moon rise and set.
