Default 2/15/05 Story,what a story

I hook up Chummin with chunk We light off form Miami, stop by a buoy to grab some runners,I end up catching yellow eye snappers, imagine that in less than 100' of water, anyway We get out and set up,We hook up right off the bat and I get a 150 lber in about 30 min,Joe is laughing at Me because I am testing the BATTLE WAGON, a new proto type Portable fighting chair that I designed and built for openfiherman, works like a charm,
So we re rig and I just about have the last bait out and I look over My shoulder and I see a light at the surface,I started yelling a hydra glow at the surface,.LOL,and of course We dont know which one it is and we start winding and Joe gets tight,We figure out its the the runner and its tangled with another,We start out off the port of Miami,1 hour goes by and now He is loving the Battle Wagon,2hours and we decide to give chase after he takes about 700 yards,3rd hour I am able to get the line untangled from him, 4th hour We run into another forum member Kevin K,And He is on a big fish also,at times we were within 100 yards of one another,We were trying every trick in the book now with the boat, getting north of him south east west, circling about a thousand times, now we think we have 300lber,5th hour now hes a 400 lber, hour 6 and now he has grown to 500 lbs drag goes to 20 lbs,6hours goes by and drag goes to 25,then 30 lbs and now 7hours and I see the light and tell Joe its a Dam shark do you want to kill it?He was ready to throw me over!It ends up being about a 150 lb sword hooked right in the meat by the dorsal fin.
I will never leave home without my Battle Wagon ever again, screw the stand up stuff,I will never be strapped to a rod ever again !
Chum,Thanks again for a wonderful night to burn into the memork bank!I only wish we had the Battle Wagon Christmas eve whith Pat {Final Point}

You girls took that long on a 150 lber? Wow, I really need to get back down there and show you how to fight a fish. Foul hooked fish do suck I admit. I like the battlewagon (although it's for lazy people) and I looooove that reel in the picture.

Nice job on those fish...

Capt Ken have you had a chance to fish with the battlewagon in rough seas? is it relatively stable? Looks like an excellent product, especially for small boats without room for a big chair.

Nice job on your two fish. I also caught two fish one was 55 the other was 80 inches. Both fish we caught in about 15 minutes fight time and was back in the inlet by 9:30. The big fish was 275lbs of pumpkin.

Default Does the BATTLE WAGON have an EJECT feature?

Capt. Ken/Chummin:

That chair looks like a novel innovation. Is it only used for retrieving large fish? Looks like you could get a less that perfect hair-cut, all the while staying tight on the fish. In case the angler gets to feisty, do that device have an EJECTOR seat feature?

Great job on getting those two fish. Or is there a little bit of luck involved too? I am starting to think, it could be the boots!

Interesting Note: It is amazing how much variable time can be involved when foul hooked on a fish. Last summer on FinalPoint, we had a 124 lb. foul hooked solid on the base of the dorsal too. It took 2hrs. 20 min to get the fish in the boat. Your dorsal hooked fish was a derserving candidate for the BATTLE WAGON, sounds like he had plenty of stamina. Lucky thing you did not dorsal hook onto a 300 lb.er. We may not have gotten your post until this evening, a day and half later.

Perhaps you can rest for another day before getting the itch again.

P.S. - Joe, how are you ever going to get to Cabo if you are having so much excitement here? And no BATTLE WAGON?

Capt Ken, You're just getting old, man. Pretty soon you'll have a
hard time bringing in a 80 pounder. 8^)

I went out with Dragon bait on Monday night on Reel Life. We went
1 for 2. Lost a 125 # after a 30 minute battle and having it jump
next to the boat. it hit a tinker at 75'. mucho tinkers along the
49. Boated a 80 # on a squid bait at 180' that I dropped on the
fish's head. nice night. cheers, arthur
