Another Grand, his pops, and myself headed out after the storms to watch the fireworks in the boat....just a little further offshore

. 2nd bait in the water is the Red/White/Blue squidly and it gets nailed right off the bat. Johnny winched the fish up and a we had a nice 52-53"er in the boat. About 30 minutes later just as the major fireworks were winding down the shallow tip is swiming around the boat. It was the on the little 80W so I cranked it up and released a little 50"er. About 15 minutes after that the Saba gets whacked off the hook then the othe red white blue I had got nailed. This was a serious beast for sure. Turned the boat compleatly around and we started getting towed south on the 130W. Fish stayed pretty close and about 20' down. But after about 5 minutes of that, the hook pulled and the fish was gone. Drifted and little while north and right as we are starting to reel in baits, the saba takes off and Johnny is ON. Mr. Birkman goes to fire the engine, but nothing. Long story short.... dead battery... not even enough for the vhf. Johnny finally starts working this fish up on the 130. Get it close... like reallly close and see it's a big Hammerhead and not a swordy. Cut the line, then called Sea tow on my phone(thank *** i get service out there). While waiting we put baits out and were in the fish! Johnny and I kooked about 2 fish each before we made Pops take a crack at it so he could stop cracking on us. First fish he hooked comes to the boat. Another 50"er billed and released. Took about an hour 30 minutes, but Sea Towed showed and gave us a jump, checked our sea tow card and off we went.
Memerable night for sure. The red/white/blue is being fish every 4th of july for the rest of my life! they were getting nailed!
Headed back last night with my buddy Ryan in his 31 Contender out of Boca. Went 2 for 2(new hooks) with a 50-53" release and a FAT 71". Also jigged up a 65-70lb AJ from a 220' wreck on the way out. Way more than I could handle but I got that sucker up!!
