Default 7/3/07 - 62"

Crew: EmiJess, SnookIt, and myself... on the EmiJess.

Waited out the storms in front of LHP, then headed out to the 50. Set-up around 9pm. Nothing. Ran south and re-set about 12. Nothing 'til around 2am... got smacked on a deep tip rod at the bow, then started reeling the stern tip rod to entice a bite. Bam! 25lb drag... winched it up to the top of the wind-on, then the fish made a sluggish run downward. Sat about 100ft deep for a while, then started to slowly rise. Got a gaff in it without much commotion. Slapped it on the deck and hog-tied it. Lazy fish. 20 minutes, tops. Average build, 62-incher.

Not much action on the VHF.

Congrats on a decent fish on a slow stormy night unk.

You guys got rewarded for sticking it out. Glad to see some people have the cojones to wait things out and go even when a little stormy. I understand the seas themselves have been pretty sweet all these stormy nights. I was willing but the crew was not.

Bite was late(and slow!)... we lost one about that size in at almost the same numbers around 4am.

Heading back out tonight with AG I think.

Good job sticking it out, guys. We were out there but the storms chased us home early. Too much electricity for my taste. Enjoy those sword steaks on the grill this afternoon!!

I stand by that theory. Swords will still be caught during storms and with lightening present... but the bite definately slows way down, on average.

Maybe that is why the bite was so late. After most of the lightning moved away.
