Default 2/9 Report - Hot Early Bite

Headed out Hillsboro on a friend of a friend's brand new 34' Venture with a full crew of 5. Find our spot around 6:15 pm and begin to setup. There must have been 50+ boats out last night. Had 1 idiot set up about 150yds from us as we are letting out lines. 2 jugs out and 3rd line being dropped and 1st jug begins going off. Get tight on fish and clear 3rd line. Start to bring in 2nd jug as fish is heading it's direction. 2nd jug gets tight. Double header!!! Luckily fish went opposite directions. Fish #2 gets put in boat after a few jumps in about 10 minutes and is a fat 52 incher. Meanwhile, fish #1 is still pulling drag off the 80W. Stalemate for a while that ends with a dart stuck in a 236lb bright pumpkin. Total fight was under 45 mins. Capt calls it a night, so we snap a few pics and head for Lighthouse. Both fish were caught by sword virgins and both fish ate squids. Fish was weighed in at Lighthouse Point marina at 8:30 pm. Earliest I've ever been in!!! Gotta love the early bite!

I boated a 59" pumkin 2/9 and supprisingly it only had squid and tinkers in it's gut. The pumkin before this one, lot's of pink shrimp.

Are those the royal red shrimp I see sometimes at the grocery? They aren't in the stores very often but they sure do taste good. I guess the swordfish agree.

Large fish had 1 brilliant red shrimp (pic doesn't show true redness) about size of my pinky along with what looked to be about a 6inch ribbonfish-like fish, 1 sardine/herring, and 2 9in squids.

Small fish had smaller ribbonfish-like fish and 2 sardine/herrings in stomach.
