Default Friday 3/16/07 Trip Report - key West

Friday was the only night that had a reasonable forecast, so we went out hoping that the forecast was accurate and we could find an early fish.

Not quite. Lots more wind earlier than expected and with the gulf stream in really close, we had way too much speed during our drifts. Solid 4 footers with lots of 5 and 6 foot waves.

Even with all of the trouble getting our baits down deep, we managed to lose 4 baits to some pick pocket swords and never bent a rod. Absolutely no sign of bait from 700' out to 1800'.

A couple of downpours and lots of heat lightning topped off the night.

Should have stayed at the dock and read Swordfish Central posts.

Tight lines,

Capt. Art

Better luck next time. Kudos on the attempt. You can't catch them from the dock.
